Pawlowski Named 2015 Officer of the Year

Mishawaka Police Chief Ken Witkowski has named Detective Lt. Robert Pawlowski as the recipient of the Mishawaka Police "Officer of the Year" award for 2015. "Lt. Pawlowski has proven to be an outstanding officer," commented Chief Witkowski. "His accomplishments and actions over the course of the year and beyond reflect highly upon him and the Mishawaka Police Department." 

Lt. Robert Pawlowski has had a distinguished career in law enforcement including serving with the U.S. Army Military Police. Hired by the City of Mishawaka as a Police Officer on November 16, 1977, Lt. Pawlowski has served in several different capacities including as an Assistant Chief over the Uniform Division, Assistant Chief over the Investigative Division and Investigator with the Detective Bureau.

Lt. Pawlowski was also awarded "Officer of the First Quarter, 2015" for his actions and response to over-hearing gunshots coming from an apartment building as he was driving home from his regular shift. He responded quickly, taking action in securing the apartment and de-escalating the situation. Once at the scene the occupants were secured and responding officers located three pounds of marijuana, 1.1 oz. of cocaine, two handguns, ammunition, as well as evidence of drug dealing. Three suspects were arrested and charged with several felonies.
